MICHAEL LÖWY, IN HIS REVIEW OF MY BOOK, Change the World Without Taking Power, argues that “democracy should be a central aspect in all processes of social and political decision making, and particularly in a revolutionary process.” I do not disagree with this, but I think it makes little sense unless we distinguish clearly between two senses of democracy.
